Another grand lady has been saved from the wrecking ball. Unfortunately I never saw the The Monmouth as she was torn down the winter before I came to Spring Lake as a Mother's helper. The family I was with owned a lovely old Victorian summer cottage on Ocean Avenue. I would spend the better part of the day jumping in the waves or taking turns riding my little charges up and down the boardwalk in the babyseat of an ancient British racing green Raleigh 3 speed. It was great fun. The Essex and Sussex was just a delight to the senses as was all of Spring Lake.
