Roger Kimball's future daughter-in-law turns 6 in two weeks. All she wanted for her birthday was a pet. Preferably, a jungle pet. We asked her what a jungle pet was and she said an iguana or a cockatoo would do. The Peperium house is not an exotic one. We do not do iguanas or large birds with 75 year life spans. So what RKFDIL wanted and what RFDIL got, was an entirely different beast. This morning, Veronica Wedge or, as she will be more affectionately called, Vee joined our family.
Vee is a solid charcoal grey shorthair kitten rescued by our vet. Her eyes are blue-green like a peacock feather. She has some Siamese blood in her so, at 5 months of age, she is long, lean, and completely gorgeous. When Misspent's friend, Hobbes the cat, is allowed to set his eyes on her, we are sure, after several alley cat howls, he will give her the Ickenham system. Right now he's in lockdown until he can be trusted to only wiggle her about a bit.
Isn't cat love grand?
