The Peperiums are off to one of our favorite events : Day Out With Thomas at Greenfield Village. (I refuse to call the joint The Henry Ford since it was only created as a reaction to the charge of Henry Ford not being interested in history.) The kids adore it and we do too. Plus, the people watching is marvelous. Last year there were two sandy-haired boys, about 6 years of age, dressed in white Polo shirts, blue seersucker Bermuda shorts, white socks, and penny loafers. Not only had the mother dressed her perfect boys in seersucker before Memorial Day, she had them both attached to her by a very expensive leather leash. The kind of leash one uses to string up a whole line of those very annoyingly cute pint-sized terriers.
Mr. P and I watched this mother, completely entranced, for a while. We weighed the pros and cons of reporting her to the Humane Society and eventually decided against it. In the eyes of the powers at be at the Humane Society, little boys have fewer rights in this world than annoyingly cute pint-sized terriers. Besides, their Dad was standing right beside Mom dressed in a matching outfit, smiling.
Can't wait to see how this Mom has the men in her life clad this year. And, if the boys managed over the course of 12 months to outgrow the leash. Or, if Dad now requires the services of one...
