Misspent

What? Why on earth would you expect me to buy a $195 yellow sweater, size 2T? Firstly, I do not have the desire to spend that much money with my current income and dip into my Scrooge McDuck silo of money. Secondly, I have never made it a point to ostentatiously show my good fortune. That is not a trait that we doom and gloom Lutherans share with you gaudy and glitzy Catholics. Wouldn't you know that my bag that you hate so much was procured for barely $40 even though it is leather and "designer" branded? That my brown jacket was gotten for $60 at Marshalls? I bought a dark tweed hat this weekend only because it was $19 and was regularly priced much higher than that. I don't buy anything when it is not on sale. You're use of my as a standard punching bag for your little jokes is tiresome and pretty much lacking any sense.

Card's wife

What about that RL pink shirt? I hear Mrs. P's looking for one in little Bertie's size.

Mrs. Peperium

Misspent, just remember that though Mr. Cusack stands to inhereit the Card's vast financial empire, you are the only one who ever got a rose. BTW, I think you're spending too much time with Li'Abner. You're getting as cranky he does.

Card's wife, a major fashion disaster has occured here. RKFDIL found a 'treasure' at school - a ball of silly putty with a gummi fish imbedded in it. She put the 'treasure' in the pocket of her school jumper and promptly forgot about it. On Friday I washed the jumper and the silly putty treasure has become one with the jumper. What do I do?

To Misspent:

Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed.

Some say love, it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed.

Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need. I say love, it a a flower, and You its only seed.

It's the heart, afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance. It's the dream afraid of waking, that never takes a chance. It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give. And the soul, afraid of dyin', that never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long, And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong, Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows, Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

Mrs. Peperium

That must have been some cup of coffee.

Misspent, Just how much time and money do you spend doing all of this shopping and bargain hunting you've described? Remember what John Paul II had to say about the dangers of the consumerist society. --Oh but I forgot, what would he know, he's just one of those gaudy and glitzy Catholics. Like me. And that loud and vulgar William F. Buckley, Jr.

That said, Mrs P really is a trouble-making, pot-stirrer. She's gone after you because she thinks you're easy to rile. You just can't allow yourself to take the bait.

Card's wife

Mrs. P, lighter fluid.

Quicquid

Now, instead of Ethel, we'll call her Bette. Or Janis. Either will suffice.

Mrs. Peperium

I thought Buckley was a pothead.

Mrs. Peperium

A very genteel Park Avenue duplex pothead.

Card

What's your point?

Mrs. Peperium

Is there a point to smoking pot? I thought it was about getting away from points.

Andrew Cusack

One day in the offices of the New Criterion we wondered how WFB gets his, er, herbal remedy shall we say. Eventually we agreed that his limo driver probably gets it for him.

Mrs. Peperium

Hmmn....Probably. He really doesn't seem the type to have grow lights in his basement does he?

NEWSFLASH: Veteran Ace Reporter, media darling and the man who once brought down a Republican president by transgressing several laws in this country, Bob Woodward, is refusing to grant an interview to the paper that has cut his paycheck weekly since the late '60's, The Washington Post, because WOODWARD'S CONCERNED THEY WON'T ACCURRATELY REPORT WHAT HE SAID.

?

Card's wife

Mrs. P, I'm devastated. They fired Mariucci.

Mrs. Peperium

Misspent, I double posted. It was not an editorial comment, merely ineptitude.

Wayne Fontes

I'm tan, rested and ready to go.

Mrs. Peperium

Mr. Fontes, my memory is a bit fuzzy. Are you the Detroit Lions coach than bore an uncanny likeness to Fred Flintstone? If so, could you please share with our readers why the Detroit Lions can't ever win no matter who the coach or quarterback is? Also how much of a role does that enviromentalist whacko, Budda-hugging, and non meat-eating Bill Jr. play in the failure of the Lions? Or is this all Dad's mess?

Mrs. Peperium

Maybe Mariucci can start a band.

Quicquid

I smell a tanning bed.
